Honey Butter Matcha Latte

This honey butter matcha latte started as a curiosity about what would happen if I whipped butter and honey together into a cream and put it on top of a matcha. The answer is that it is completely delicious and I cannot stop making it. The cream top is sweet and slightly salty from the butter and it melts slowly into the cold matcha underneath as you drink it, changing the flavour with every sip. I use BeeMaid Honey throughout the whole drink because the flavour is clean and floral and works beautifully with matcha.

Method

  1. 1Melt the butter, then whisk in the BeeMaid Honey and heavy cream until fluffy. Set aside.
  2. 2Whisk the matcha with hot water until frothy, using a 3 to 10 ratio of matcha to water.
  3. 3Fill your cup with ice, add the milk and BeeMaid Honey, then top with the matcha and finish with the honey butter cream.

Tips & Notes

Make sure the butter is fully melted before whisking in the cream and honey so it combines smoothly. The cream top should be fluffy but still pourable. Use cold heavy cream straight from the fridge for the best texture.
